Best brokers in Finland

Finnish investors can reallocate tax-free inside an equity savings account (osakesäästötili). Because the account is limited to listed shares, ETF investors still depend on a conventional depot. Per Nordnet, foreign withholding tax, such as on US dividends, is not credited inside the account.

The ranking

Risk warning: CFDs and leveraged products are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly. Investments can fall in value. Past performance is not an indicator of future results.

Investor protection

Sijoittajien korvausrahasto — 90 % up to a maximum of EUR 20,000 at Finnish investment firms; with foreign providers their home-country scheme can apply (Nordnet: Swedish investor protection up to SEK 250,000)

The part that decides

Tax notes

Investment income is taxed at 30%, and the part above EUR 30,000 at 34%. On share sales, a deemed acquisition cost of 20% of the sale price can be used instead of the actual cost, or 40% after ten years of holding. If all sales in a year total at most EUR 1,000, the gains are tax-free. Of dividends from listed companies 85% is taxable; Finnish companies withhold 25.5% in advance. Trading through a foreign broker, you report gains and losses yourself. Shares are in principle subject to a 1.5% transfer tax; purchases on a stock exchange are usually exempt, but listed Finnish shares bought through a foreign broker only if the broker files an annual report with the tax administration or you file a return within two months. An osakesäästötili accepts cash only, up to EUR 100,000, and listed shares only; switching inside is tax-free, and only the return portion of a withdrawal is taxed (the provider withholds 30%). Losses count there only when the account is closed, and one account per person is allowed.

Brokers that withhold tax locally

Our dataset records these providers as tax withholding agents for this country. Whether that removes the need to declare the income yourself is something we have not checked for this country. The country's tax law decides.

Orientation based on the general legal position — not tax advice. Your personal situation and the legislation in force at the time govern.

Cash deposits only, at most EUR 100,000; shares already held cannot be transferred in. Listed shares can be traded inside without tax on individual sales; dividends are not taxed on arrival. Tax is due only on withdrawal: the provider withholds 30% of the return portion. The 15% tax-free part of dividends and the deemed acquisition cost do not apply inside. Losses count only in the year the account is closed. One account per person (otherwise normally a EUR 10 tax surcharge per day per account); moving to another bank is tax-free. • Sijoittajien korvausrahastoSecurities: up to €20,000 per client and institutionSource: sijoittajienkorvausrahasto.fiAs of 25 October 2026

Pays 9/10 of the claim against one provider, at most EUR 20,000 per investor, for non-professional clients. Members are Finnish investment service firms. Nordnet names the Swedish investor protection scheme (up to SEK 250,000) for its Finnish clients instead, so the cover depends on the provider's home country.

Such schemes pay when an institution fails and cannot return securities or cash. They do not cover falling prices.
